Dangerous

Johnny’s old enough to carry a gun
Teach him to load it and give him one
You pull the trigger to make it work
All it takes is a nervous jerk
It’s that fear of life
That makes him
Dangerous.

A lone wolf walks the streets today
He’s very quiet, hasn’t much to say
By noon, ten people lay dead
No one’s sure what’s inside his head
But it’s that fear of life
It makes him
Dangerous.

Daddy killed the family
Why he did it is no mystery
Your last will can’t be undone
When it’s carried out with your gun
It’s that fear of life
That makes him
Dangerous.

Suited and booted on a dusty road
Brown-shirted children cheer as flags unfold
Rifles loaded and ready for use
God’s vigilantes on the loose
It’s their fear of life
That makes them
Dangerous.
